Whitmore writings, ca. 1900-1931.

Summary: Manuscripts written by Dr. William Whitmore between 1900 and 1931 about Arizona medical history and medical societies, Arizona physicians, and University of Arizona history. A scrapbook is present containing clippings of articles, written by Whitmore, and published in the newspaper. Biographical sketches are present in two series; one of pioneer Arizona physicians including George Goodfellow, Rueben Wilbur, Mark Rodgers, Narciso Matas, Walter Purcell, Henry Pilling, Alexander Gould, and John Green; and one of University of Arizona Presidents including Rufus Bernard von Kleinsmid, Byron Cummings, Howard Billman, Homer Shantz, Cloyd Heck Marvin, Louis Ricketts, Arthur Wilde, Millard Parker, Frank Adams, Kendric Babcock, and Merrill Freeman. There are also printed articles entitled "Early Medical Conditions in Arizona, 1926," and "Married Women as Teachers," and several graduation speeches.

Biographical note: Physician; William Whitmore arrived in Tucson in 1902 and worked first as a medical assistant to Dr. George Goodfellow, and later as a general practicioner.
